Dear doctor, friend, and colleague!
I hope you are well. You are receiving this because you have subscribed to the MedlyCase Launch waitlist! You have probably forgotten why you signed up for this list, and thank you for still reading! Most likely, you saw my videos: First Day as a Doctor, Second Day as a Doctor, and something related to you!
The path of becoming a doctor is a lonely path. For me, for my friends, and I can imagine for you as well. The struggles of keeping up with the material, having mental stability, and trying to be better for our patients are difficult to overcome alone. We face many challenges during our pursuit of medicine.
One challenge that almost made me quit was that I could not bridge the gap between knowledge and real life. Symptoms were just a word to me; I could not think of differential diagnosis, and I could not link any knowledge together. I doubted that I would ever be able to become a doctor. Until clinical practice - seeing patients and entering OSCE exams made me realise that I learnt best by doing cases and linking all the information together by seeing a real patient!
Doing cases was not only learning; it was vital for me. I could not pass my exams any other way.
Maybe that is why I enjoyed the OSCE exams and the preparation for them. For the first time, I felt like I had the chance to simulate speaking to a patient without actually worrying about the consequences of making a wrong call.
Slowly, this lonely and difficult chapter started becoming more hopeful to me.
February 2024, I was visiting my brothers in the UK and as we were having a chill time, I could see my brother practicing Chess on his phone, solving puzzles and reading why certain moves were the right ones, I just wished there was something similar….but for us, medics, that we could see patients in a no-pressure environment and practice all we can any time any where.
That is when I decided to start working on MedlyCase.
MedlyCase is a platform designed to simulate the doctor-patient encounter. There are over 40 virtual patients, all with a unique diagnosis, with lab and imaging results, all mimicking real-life scenarios. You can talk to the patient just like they would to a real one, no restrictions; they can request lab tests and see the results, just like in real life.
After graduation, things changed…
for the BETTER thanks to YOU!
I started sharing my story of transitioning into a junior doctor and building MedlyCase on the side. Along this challenging path, your support showed me that medicine does not have to be lonely and restrictive! My days in the emergency room were filled with joy, and I embraced the new challenges with open arms. My career as a doctor is filled with a new meaning thanks to you!
I have been working on MedlyCase for the past 2 years now, and it is finally ready to LAUNCH!!!!
Our big launch day is TODAY, and within a couple of hours, you will receive another email with more details about MedlyCase.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope together we can make this journey as exciting and enriching as possible.
Best wishes,
Ayshe Nur Yashar, MD
